  2.  Born 1874, researcher in Jewish studies 
  3.  From 1919, a professor at the Hochschule fuer die Wissensschaft des Judentums (College for Judaic Studies) in Berlin - the Liberal rabbinical seminary. In 1933-1938, he chaired the education committee of the National Representation (Reichsvertretung). In 1939 he emigrated to the United States, where he died in 1941.
